'I learned that, only through an effective collaboration framework with stakeholders and using modern digital technologies, it is possible to periodically produce, share and use high-quality environmental information, easily accessible anytime and vital for informed decision-making processes at the national level.' |
'We should all work together to respond to environmental challenges and live on an eco-friendly planet in harmony with nature. We should choose the green path for our future!' |
Why are you passionate about the environment? I was born and grew up near the forest reserve ‘Codrii’, so being passionate and then working in the field of the environment felt natural to me, to help or contribute to preserving our environment. Favourite place: My favourite places are Codrii Natural Reserve and the Carpathian Mountains. Background: Bachelor of Energy Engineering and Master of Public Administration. Surprising part about the project: For me, the surprising part is management and coordination of the project itself, the available experts ready to offer peer-to-peer support and share knowledge, methodologies that are easy to adapt to the national context, institutional capacity development activities to support a regular evaluation and the reporting process at the national level, which is still a challenge. Key learning from the project: I learned that, only through an effective collaboration framework with stakeholders and using modern digital technologies, it is possible to periodically produce, share and use high-quality environmental information, easily accessible anytime and vital for informed decision-making processes at the national level. Project's added value: Even though the Environmental Agency started its activity in November 2018 and then in May 2019 the NFP was designated from the Agency, we received valuable information and support in implementing the Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS) and the System of Environmental Economic Accounting (SEEA) and continue to strengthen the regular reporting process at the country level, including production of national environmental indicators using UNECE, EEA and SEA methodologies and tools, and integrated assessment reports such as SoE reports, which are core functions of the Environmental Agency as well. |
Why are you passionate about the environment? I understand that ‘environment’ is the word that surrounds humanity and each of us. We are all a part of nature and cannot exist without our environment. Favourite place: I enjoy and rest near the Dnestr river in Moldova. Background: After finishing my studies in economics I dedicated my career to statistics. The last 18 years I have worked as a department head of agriculture and environment. Surprising part about the project: I discovered that I have many colleagues that can understand me in different countries and that are willing to discuss with me issues that are of interest to me. Key learning from the project: All components of the project bring added value, and for me the implementation of economic environmental accounting is our priority, thus has special interest for us. Project’s added value: This is implementation of the SEIS principles in environmental statistics; in addition, these principles are vital in creating efficient cooperation between national institutions. Implemented actions: Within the framework of this project, we implemented all the knowledge and skills that my team and I have acquired. We use them to improve our current work, start new initiatives and make plans for the future. |
