Regional meeting on Open Data and E-government for the environment

The event is part of a new project component under the framework of ENI SEIS II East project and implemented by the European Environment Agency, with support from PricewaterhouseCoopers Lithuania and branches in ENI East countries

The event will bring together high-level representatives from the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries from Ministries of Environment, Statistical Offices as well as officials from other relevant institutions dealing with environment and related information (e.g. authority responsible for Land management and cadaster, Ministry of Health, Transport and Energy etc.).

The focus will be to discuss and identify feasible and practical means for integrating environmental information in national E-Governance/Open Data frameworks and platforms to raise the profile of environmental information through its accessibility, sharing, harvesting additional environmental, and social and economic benefits.

This activity is part of the project on further implementation of the Shared Environment Information System principles in the six ENI East countries by improving the sharing and dissemination of environment information between various institutions at national level and beyond in the spirit of the Aarhus Convention on access to environment information.

This project will run throughout 2019 and will aim at connecting the current work with other running activities in this area at both national and European level. Moreover, this project component will be closely linked and build upon other thematic project components and will connect with the activities overseen by the Aarhus Convention, as well as with current initiatives taking place in the European Union on open data, streamline reporting and improving the access to environment information. National workshops in the six EaP countries are foreseen to be held in the following months.
