In the framework of ENI SEIS II South, the European Environment Agency organised in collaboration with United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the United Nations Environment Programme, a workshop on environment statistics and information for sustainable development in the Arab Region. The Workshop took place at the ESCWA Headquarters in Beirut, from 12 November to 16 November 2018.

The event aimed to provide statisticians from national statistical offices and experts from ministries of environment with detailed knowledge and understanding of contemporary approaches to environment statistics, allowing them to identify gaps and deficiencies in environmental data and contribute to the production of regular, accurate and reliable environment statistics. This will contribute in developing environmental indicators and accounts relevant to policy making and SDGs monitoring.
