State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan delivers environmental indicators catalogue with support from the ENI SEIS II East project
The State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan developed a catalogue of environmental indicators, based on the catalogues from Eurostat and the EEA, within the framework of the ENI SEIS II East project.
This catalogue includes 156 environmental indicators organised according to environmental themes and sub-themes. All environmental indicators correspond to national and international requirements and cover the following groups:
A. Air pollution and ozone layer depletion
B. Climate changes
C. Water resources
D. Biodiversity
E. Land resources
F. Agriculture
G. Energy
H. Transport
I. Waste.
Environmental indicators are tools for assessing environmental trends, checking progress against objectives and targets and evaluating policy effectiveness.
The catalogue is available on the portal of the State Statistics Committee.
It plays an important role in environmental policymaking and evaluating its effectiveness, and it is relevant to the requirements for the preparation of national, regional and global environmental reports based on the UN Sustainable Development Goal indicators.
