The State Statistics Service of Ukraine has started compiling an air emissions account in accordance with EU Regulation No 691/2011.

At the request of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the EEA and UNECE identified experts from the Statistical Office of Finland to help Ukraine to compile System of Environmental Economic Accounting (SEEA) air emissions accounts.

Representatives of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine met experts from the Finnish Statistical Office during a study visit to Finland and received methodological assistance and practical experience. This capacity building will improve the national methodology for compiling the air emissions account and improve the quality of statistical information.

The State Statistics Service of Ukraine strengthened cooperation with experts from the National Center for Greenhouse Gas Accounting and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine and provided consultation and cooperation on the calculation of air emissions.

This cooperation resulted in a draft methodology for calculating greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere. Emissions of pollutants from mobile sources and the environmental cost account data were computed.
