Passionate about: Our environment is very important for our lives and it is our responsibility to keep it as clean and natural as possible. |
Passionate about: I have been passionate about the environment since childhood, as the environment is all around us and it says a lot about us, and we can talk about environment in many different aspects of our lives. |
Favourite place (s): My country, Belarus, and I love my city, Minsk. |
Favourite place (s): My country, Belarus, and I love my city, Minsk. |
Background: I studied chemistry and I completed my studies in ecological engineering. |
Background: I studied statistics and I am passionate about it. I am currently Head of the Environment Statistic Unit in the National Statistic Committee of Republic of Belarus, combining my passion for the environment and my love for statistics. |
Surprising part about the project: This project gives us the opportunity to interact with other countries and I have high expectations for the results. |
Surprising part about the project: It is a new experience in different working environments. |
Key learning from the project: This project improved and increased the environmental indicators published online including water, biodiversity, etc. The project supports implementation of the system of environmental economic accounting and environmental reporting (the Bern convention and national state of environment report). Therefore it improved efficiency of the overall use of environmental information. I am convinced that the project will further strengthen the national environmental reporting process. |
Key learning from the project: Each component of the project is useful, and I am grateful for this opportunity to work in each area with the support of the EEA experts. Of course every participant has their own priorities. My number one priority for the project is water statistics and because of that the work with Nihat Zal on part of data analysis and visualisation is especially helpful. |
Project's added value: The project focuses on an integrative approach for the environmental assessments with SDGs monitoring and analysis, communication and stakeholder involvement, etc. This enables sound environmental governance and informed decision-making. |
Project's added value: Analysis knowledge and data visualization, these contributed to the statistical production in Belarus via SEIS indicators and the system of environmental economic accounting. |
Implemented actions: Project shares invaluable knowledge, experiences that we actively implement and adapt. New approaches and developments forge synergies and links between environmental authorities, nature management and statistics. For example, the Ministry applies acquired knowledge in drafting assessment reports: National system of environmental monitoring: observation results and National state of the environment report. |
Implemented actions: The best way to see implemented actions is to go on the Belstat site (official statistics/environment).
