The State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan developed environmental indicators catalogue based on the environmental indicator catalogue from Eurostat and the European Environment Agency within the framework of ENI SEIS II East project. This catalogue plays an important role in the formulation of environmental policy and evaluation of its effectiveness, as well as, it is relevant with the requirements for the preparation of national, regional, and global environmental reports based on the Sustainable Development Goals indicators.

The catalog includes 156 environmental indicators organized according to environmental themes and sub-themes. Environmental indicators are tools for assessing environmental trends, checking progress against objectives and targets and evaluating policy effectiveness. The catalogue is available on the portal of the State Statistics Committee.

In 2020 State Statistics Committee official web site will publish metadata  for each indicator in a dedicated new section “Catalog of Environmental Indicators”.
