29 January 2019 | Ukraine will create a new air monitoring system based on the EU standard
The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine prepared a draft resolution for the procedure on implementation of air monitoring for the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers. This procedure was developed with the support from the ENI SEIS II East project.
"It is necessary to reform the current air monitoring system, since it does not allow us to fully obtain information on concentrations of contaminants and to take response measures. This problem is extremely topical and does not require additional arguments in Ukraine. Implementation of the monitoring system will ensure the right of Ukrainians to get information about the state of the environment", - said the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ostap Semerak.
The new monitoring system is based on the implementation of the EU standard and model and it is in line with the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. This system will gather operational information and assess atmospheric air data, which will enable drafting and enforcing effective environmental policies .
