Azerbaijan is planning to use the water information system developed under the ENI East project as the common platform among all water agencies to exchange the data and information on the water resources. The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources is exploring to allocate additional state funding for its further development and future sustainability.

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources is working on developing knowledge-based decision-making process for water particularly to deal with acute and stable water scarcity conditions in the country. The water information system will serve as knowledge hub among the decision makers to support the necessary data and information on water resources. EcoPortal's functionalities are valued for implementing the shared environmental information system (SEIS) principles.

Representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and other water agencies attended to the two days consultation meeting  acknowledged results of the cooperation with the EEA under the ENI SEIS II East Project.
