The European Environment Agency and Slovak Environment Agency held the Virtual Regional Workshop on state of environment reports in the Eastern Partnership countries. This event was originally foreseen on 18-19 March in Bratislava, Slovak Republic was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. This regional workshop focused on project activities, its added value and results. It summarised results of the environmental analytical products after consultation in Eastern partnership countries.
This webinar was attended by forty experts and delivered by the experts from the European Environment Agency, Slovak Environment Agency, the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency and the six Eastern Partnership countries.
The EEA delivers the latest/best EU practices and methodologies to develop the institutional capacities of the national environmental and statistical authorities in the Eastern Partnership Countries and to” Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development” (SDG 17). The Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic, the Slovak Environment Agency, the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL) and the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD) have played key role in knowledge transfer and institutional capacity building. Technical assistance, hands-on trainings, expert visits in the countries and experience sharing for harmonising data and indicators with international and EU standards. In line with the Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS), the project promotes common approaches and applications for regular environmental reporting (tools, information systems, regionally agreed indicators and assessment reports).
The project aims to support the promotion of environmental protection by strengthening environmental governance. Regular production of environmental indicators and assessment and contribute towards knowledge-based policy-making and good environmental governance.
