Project activities in the countries

Air quality
The objective of this activity is to increase the use and public accessibility of air quality measurement data in the ENI East countries. Georgia is now reporting up-to-date air quality data on a voluntary basis to the EEA.  In addition, the reported  data is used as the basis for Air Quality Index

Biodiversity
The ENI SEIS II East project provided technical expertise and financial support for the national authorities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and independent scientific experts from Belarus, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.  Together with the Council of Europe and the European Topic Centre on Biological Diversity, they assessed proposals for the conservation of wild flora and fauna and their natural habitats.

Corine Land Cover
The EEA and the European Topic Centre for Urban, Land and Soil Systems continue to support the implementation of pilot Corine Land Cover projects. Two missions took place, one to Georgia, where experts discussed the implementation and next steps, and a training mission to Moldova.

Open Data
Three national round tables in Moldova, Georgia and Belarus  developed roadmaps to modernise environmental information systems and raise the profile of environmental information in national open data and e-government processes.

SOER development
In-depth training sesions on developing state of environment reports took place from 2 to 4 April in Moldova and from 4 to 6 June in Armenia. These hands-on training sessions, developed by the EEA and the Slovak Environment Agency, focused on deepening the capacity of the national experts to  produce indicators and assessment reports for environmental reporting.

Water
The ENI SEIS II East project continues to support the development of the common platforms in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia for sharing water resources and resource management data and information among national water agencies. Furthermore, water account training sessions and discussions took place in Azerbaijan and Belarus.
