Eastern Partnership Panel on Environment and Climate Change, Brussels, 2-3 March 2017
The Directorate-General for the Environment (DG ENV) and DG NEAR brought together representatives from ENI Eastern Partership countries, EU and international organisations to develop an action list for the period 2017-2018, translating the Eastern Partnership Declaration on Environment and Climate Change into concrete actions.

New mandate for the UNECE Working Group on Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, Geneva, 27-28 June 2017
The participation of the project NFPs from the six Eastern Partnership countries was supported by the ENI SEIS II East project. This was the first meeting of the working group under the new 4-year mandate adopted by the UNECE Committee on Environmental Policy. The focus of the new mandate is to support the development of SEIS at the pan-European level and the streamlining of a regular reporting process by 2021.

Online access and availability of environmental information in the East region
As of May 2017 the EEA has compiled a review of availability and accesibility of regional environmental indicators, national environmental assessment reports and online public access to environmental information.

EEA launches a study of the environmental assessment reports’ effectiveness and relevance in the ENI East region.
The study launched by the project in April 2017 will set up a baseline for development of environmental assessment reports in the ENP East region.

Country visits in 2017 to Azerbaijan and Moldova to prepare the Corine Land Cover pilot activities
Seminars and visits by potential partners for the Corine Land Cover (CLC) pilot were conducted on 10 February 2017 in Azerbaijan and on 17 April 2017 in Moldova. The seminars showed how the CLC project works in Europe and discussed the requirements for national cases.
